Navigate
to Database > database search > Species name search.
Then follow the steps below to search the database.
a)
The following form will be displayed.

Enter the name of the species you would like to search for.
This can be either the common name (e.g. Red squirrel) or scientific
name (Sciurus vulgaris) (1).
If you do not know the name of the species you would like to search
for you can use our thesaurus. Click on the link 'Scientific
or Common Name'. A new window will appear like the one shown
below.

Use
the thesaurus to either search for a species by keyword, or list
all the species alhabetically by scientific name or common name.

A list
of names matching your search criteria will be displayed. Click
on the 'use this' button next to the species you wish to
search for. The following form will display.

Click
on the 'use this for search' button. The widow will close
and the species name will be entered into the main search form.
You
may now perform the database search by clickinng on the 'search'
button on the main search page.
c)
Optionally you may also search for records collected between two
dates (2) - for example between
01/15/99 (15th January 1999) and 10/07/01 (7th October 2001).
Click
on the calendar
button. A pop-up calendar will be displayed:

Enter the year, (2) Select the
month, (3) Click on the date.
The date you have chosen will be automatically entered into the
search form. Do this for both Recording Start Date and Recording
Finish Date.
You
may now perform the database search by clicking on the 'search'
button on the main search page.
